Mosquitoes are a prevalent issue in Uganda, including around the Namirembe Cathedral. The warm and humid climate of the region provides a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes, allowing them to thrive throughout the year. Mosquitoes are not only a nuisance but also pose a serious health risk due to the diseases they can transmit to humans.

Year round mosquito forecast

One of the most concerning mosquito-borne diseases in Uganda is malaria. Malaria is a life-threatening illness caused by parasites transmitted through the bites of infected mosquitoes. Symptoms of malaria can range from mild to severe and may include fever, chills, and flu-like symptoms. Without proper treatment, malaria can be fatal, especially in young children and pregnant women.

In addition to malaria, other mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue fever, yellow fever, and Zika virus are also a concern in Uganda. These diseases can cause a range of symptoms, from mild to severe, and can have long-term health consequences if not properly treated. Preventative measures such as using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants, and sleeping under mosquito nets can help reduce the risk of mosquito bites and the spread of these diseases.
