Mosquitoes are a common nuisance in Eritrea, especially in Semenawi Bahri National Park. The park's humid and tropical climate provides the perfect breeding ground for these pesky insects. Mosquitoes are not only bothersome but also pose a serious health risk as carriers of various diseases.
One of the most concerning mosquito-borne diseases in Eritrea is malaria. The country experiences a high number of malaria cases each year, with Semenawi Bahri National Park being a hotspot for transmission. Other diseases transmitted by mosquitoes in the region include dengue fever, chikungunya, and yellow fever.
Efforts are being made to control the mosquito population in Semenawi Bahri National Park through measures such as insecticide spraying, mosquito net distribution, and public awareness campaigns. However, with the changing climate and increasing resistance to insecticides, the battle against mosquitoes and the diseases they carry remains a challenging one.
